In one of the interview with K Veeramani Thanthi TV journalist Hariharan asked him about his experience with E V R Periyar.

He spoke about feast he had together with Periyar..curd rice was served in the meal and Periyar wanted pickle to be served but not knowing the exact word he just made - "tok tok" making sound with tongue and snaping fingers making the person serving understand what he want.
